If the better weather and summer holidays have caused you to abandon a project mid-way through, don't be surprised if the materials have changed dimensions slightly when you return to it.

One of our evening class members discovered this when he took half of a blanket chest home to complete the dovetailing (some of which had been finished in the workshop). When he brought the pieces back and tried to fit the box together, previously fitting dovetails no longer fitted. It took a while to understand what had happened. He had been working in his garage where the humidity and temperature were different to the Lethenty Mill workshop. After the sides had lain here for three weeks, lo and behold, the joints fitted again!
