As many of you know, I have become increasingly interested in restoring old tools and am displaying some for sale in the shop here at Lethenty Mill (and also on the Wood-Mag gallery).
I realise that others may also wish to enjoy the process of restoring old tools and plan to make some unrestored tools available for sale soon too. I also intend to make DVDs with instruction on how to restore vintage tools.
I'd be interested to know if others would find this appealing, or indeed hear about your own experiences of restoring and working with vintage tools. When sourcing tools, I am often disappointed to find that they have been "restored" and nearly ruined in the process.
Old moulding planes are surprising resilient but industrial cleaning methods don't help them any more than exposure to damp garden sheds! _________________ Wood-Mag
