With Christmas looming, I was thinking of getting a machine for my workshop. (It's probably too late now but maybe I'll get a bargain in the New Year!)

As a relative newcomer to furniture making, has anyone got any feelings about which would be the first machine worth investing in?

Hi Jane,
You've possibly already treated yourself by now but, if not, I would recommend either a portable belt sander (that was the first machine I bought) or a floor standing pillar drill.
These are both very useful for furniture makers and you won't regret buying them!
