Making Dowels - 1

The rocking chair I'm making requires 6 mm dowels to pin the M&T joints. I started by cutting/planing a length of walnut to about 7 mm square. I then planed the corners to produce an octagonal cross section which I then sanded a bit. I then drove it through a home-made dowel plate drilled to 6.5 mm.
