LM Bookcase 14; Plinth keys
You might realise that I'm developing a liking for contrasting woods in the same piece. I decided to add some contrasting keys to the plinths for decorative effect - they are certainly not required for strength ! I used some walnut [offcuts!] from Matt's table. Having cut the slots, planed and glued the keys I trimmed them off with a flushcut saw and finished with a block plane and then a cabinet scraper. The photo shows one finished key and one ready to be trimmed.

Thanks for this Ian - it is great to see more of your work on the gallery. The use of contrasting wood colours is nice.
